Our Story

“We didn’t set out to ‘build an app.’ We created a solution, then used technology to distribute it.”

Hi, I’m Geoff, founder and CEO of GoGetter.

If you have a minute, I’d like to share our story of how GoGetter got started.

It all began the day I decided to start a service-based business. With a background in the sport of tennis and a passion for teaching, the obvious answer for me was to teach lessons in order to pay my bills.

Business was going well, but I was disorganized. The more clients I had, the more administrative work I had to do. Emails, phone calls, cancellations and rescheduling only got worse when I decided to teach classes to make more money per hour.

Then I thought it would be nice to have a website to attract more business. Along came more work. Designing, building, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, and social media became one big project after another. Before I knew it, I was spending more time (and money) off the court instead of on the court making money.

So I started looking for software that could manage these tasks. I needed something to handle scheduling, payments and communication in one program, and do it in a simple way that made me look professional in front of my clients.

Something had to already exist. Right?

Well… I tried various software programs that claimed to do it all, but they were either complicated, hard to use, expensive or just couldn’t get the job done. Most of them required that I be in front of my desktop computer or had a mobile app with missing features.

“So I slowly regressed to using separate apps for calendars, other apps for payments, and giving clients my business phone number (from another app) and email for communication. My problems continued.”

Frustrated, I started designing my own program to manage my business. A short time later, I teamed up with my friend James (who writes software for a living) and we began working on how to solve the issues that other software had failed to do.

It took a lot of work, (and maybe longer than we anticipated) but we knew there were reasons why no one had successfully solved this riddle of complex coordination in a mobile software solution. As soon as we had a prototype ready, I started using it with my tennis clients. The results were instantaneous! Getting my free time back allowed me to work on the app while actually making MORE money with tennis lessons during the day. The best part was that I could bring the software everywhere with me.

I had regained a sense of organization and professionalism I’d been looking for. All of my clients noticed too. They appreciated the ease of use and the power of having access to my available work hours whenever they wanted. It was so much better than the old way of blindly messaging back and forth to find out when I might be available.

Then a few of my clients and friends started asking if they too could use the app to run their tutoring, sports lessons and music classes. Before we knew it, we had people who we didn’t know contacting us about the app and asking how they could get started.

So here we are today, after polishing the app and releasing it for the iPhone, we’re excited to share it with you. We’re currently working on the Android version and plan to release it soon.

Since we started working together as a team, it’s been our goal to make an app that allows anyone to easily become an entrepreneur.
